  • Young golfers have so many options available to them today to help them pursue their individual ambitions for the sport. They generally have available high school coaches, individual instruction, junior leagues, and even YouTube. But we know from experience that the golfers that succeed in college golf, more often than not, have structured mentoring as students from experienced golf professionals that makes in difference to their success.

R II M Golf Academy is excited to introduce for the 2025-2026 school year our new College Golf Preparatory Program, ROAD. Unlike any other program in the San Antonio area, Road will pair your high school golfer with experienced PGA instructors that have walked in your young golfers shoes. Rob Myers is the R II M owner and Head Teaching Professional, and Sofia Ruescas is a teaching professional. They both have extensive competition experience at the collegiate and professional level, on top of their instruction experience.

The holistic approach offered in Road can be a huge lever for any student wanting to play golf in college. It provides individualized support, recognizing that every golfer has different strengths and struggles, with long-term development, not just short-term fixes.

The pillars of this approach include:

    Mental Game

Focus, confidence, and resilience under pressure.

Techniques like visualization, breathing, and emotional control.

Managing performance anxiety and staying in the moment.

    Physical Fitness & Wellness

Strength, flexibility, and injury prevention tailored for golf.

Nutrition and recovery habits that support performance.

Proper arm-up, posture and physical conditioning

    Course Strategy & Management

Reading the course, selecting clubs wisely, and playing smart.

Making decisions based on strengths and situational awareness.

Understanding risk vs. reward especially in competitive play.

    Mindset, Attitude & Character

Sportsmanship, patience, integrity-core values of the game.

Perseverance through setbacks and bad rounds.

Growth mindset: focusing on long-term improvement, not just scores.

    Lifestyle & Balance

Balancing golf with school, family, rest, and other responsibilities.

Managing practice schedules, tournament stress, and burnout.

Creating routines that support both athletic and personal growth.
